Mr John Emslie

John Emslie is the Manager of the Employment, Education and Training (EET) Division of the NT Chamber of Commerce. His Division has worked closely with the National Disability Coordination Officer and has been involved in a number of activities highlighting employment and training of young people with disabilities. They are also deeply involved with the NT Multicultural Council and work with them to promote employment and training of humanitarian refugees.
In his current position, John has managed the Regional Industry Career Advisers and the Education and Training Adviser, covering all of the Northern Territory. Working in partnership with the Northern Land Council (NLC), Australian Apprenticeships, and a number of hotel groups including Sky City, and the Intercontinental and Toga Groups, John Division has developed a programme which aims at employing young Aboriginal people in the hospitality group.
John has developed a number of networks in the Territory and works closely with them to promote the employment and training of people with disabilities, Aboriginals and humanitarian refugees. John’s experiences in the Tertiary Education sector includes design and development of training in the areas of project management, occupational health and safety, public housing and engineering management, as well as delivering training in those areas at Bachelor, Diploma and Certificate IV levels.
